If you are in crisis

If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, or you are in immediate danger, please stop reading this page and get help right now: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, U.S.) or your local emergency number, or go to your nearest emergency room. Coaching is not equipped to handle a crisis, and we will always redirect you to emergency or professional care first.

Coaching Is Not Therapy

The Burnout Podcasts (operated by Vellix Ventures LLC) offers coaching — burnout coaching, relationship coaching, and related strategy work. Coaching is not psychotherapy, counseling, or any other form of licensed mental health treatment. Edith (and any other coach on our team) is not a licensed therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, or medical provider, and nothing said in a session, email, podcast episode, or on this Site is a diagnosis, treatment plan, or medical or psychological advice.

What Coaching Is

Coaching is a collaborative, forward-looking process focused on clarity, patterns, accountability, and practical next steps. It draws on lived experience, structured frameworks, and honest conversation — not on clinical assessment or treatment protocols.

What Coaching Is Not

  • It is not a substitute for therapy, psychiatric care, medical treatment, or crisis intervention.
  • We do not diagnose mental health or medical conditions.
  • We do not prescribe or advise on medication.
  • Nothing discussed is protected by therapist-patient privilege or HIPAA the way a licensed clinical relationship would be.

When to Seek Professional Help Instead

If you are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, addiction, or any other condition that may benefit from licensed care, please consult a qualified mental health professional or physician. We're glad to keep working alongside that care, but we cannot replace it. If you don't have a provider, resources like Psychology Today's therapist directory or your primary care doctor are good starting points.

Your Responsibility

By purchasing or participating in a coaching Service, you confirm that you understand it is not medical or psychological treatment, and that you remain responsible for your own health decisions, including seeking licensed professional care when appropriate.
