If you are in crisis
If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, or you are in immediate danger, please stop reading this page and get help right now: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, U.S.) or your local emergency number, or go to your nearest emergency room. We are not equipped to handle a crisis, and we will always redirect you to emergency or professional care first.
This Is Education, Not Therapy
The Burnout Podcasts (operated by Vellix Ventures LLC) publishes podcast episodes about books, and sells digital workbooks and journals that we write ourselves. Everything we publish is educational and informational. It is not psychotherapy, counseling, or any other form of licensed mental health treatment. No one on our team is a licensed therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, or medical provider, and nothing in an episode, a workbook, an email, or on this Site is a diagnosis, treatment plan, or medical or psychological advice.
What Our Material Is
Self-guided content: chapter-by-chapter discussion of the books we cover, plus frameworks, prompts and written exercises you work through at your own pace. It draws on the books themselves, on structured frameworks, and on lived experience — not on clinical assessment or treatment protocols.
What It Is Not
- It is not a substitute for therapy, psychiatric care, medical treatment, or crisis intervention.
- It is not personalised advice. Everyone receives the same material, and we do not assess your individual circumstances.
- We do not diagnose mental health or medical conditions.
- We do not prescribe or advise on medication.
- Buying a product does not create a clinical, professional or confidential relationship, and nothing shared with us is protected by therapist-patient privilege or HIPAA.
About the Books We Discuss
Our episodes are our own commentary on books written by other people. They are not audiobooks or reproductions of those books, and buying one of our workbooks does not give you the book it was inspired by — we link to the publisher's own editions for that. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any author or publisher we cover.
When to Seek Professional Help Instead
If you are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, addiction, or any other condition that may benefit from licensed care, please consult a qualified mental health professional or physician. Our material can sit alongside that care, but it cannot replace it. If you don't have a provider, resources like Psychology Today's therapist directory or your primary care doctor are good starting points.
Your Responsibility
By buying or using any of our products, you confirm that you understand they are not medical or psychological treatment, and that you remain responsible for your own health decisions, including seeking licensed professional care when appropriate.
